 This publication is the second, expanded and supplemented edition of the work entitled Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych w Warszawie. Informator o zasobie archiwalnym, published in 1992, edited by Teresa Zielińska. The purpose of the present edition is to provide basic and, in some cases, expanded information on the archival holdings of the Central Archives of Historical Records. The holdings of the Archives have been described in consideration of their division into four main parts: I. Records of public authorities, offices and institutions until 1795; II. Records of public authorities, offices and institutions from 1795 until 1918; III. Records of private families and individuals and their estates; IV. Cartographic Collections, preserved in four content-related sections of the Central Archives of Historical Records. Indexes (of names and geographical names) and a list of archival fonds and collections with series constitute a valuable supplement to the publication.
