Publikacja charakteryzuje zasób archiwum wg stanu na dzień 31 grudnia 2003 r. Zasadniczą część informatora stanowi charakterystyka zawartości zasobu archiwum. Zasób usystematyzowano w 14 rozdziałach, które podzielono na podrozdziały tematyczne lub chronologiczne omawiające akta sprzed 1944 r. oraz  po 1944 r. W publikacji znalazły się także informacje o materiałach archiwalnych przechowywanych w muzeach, wykaz zespołów mikrofilmowanych, wykaz grup zespołów posiadających inwentarze książkowe zbiorcze i bibliografie. Wydawnictwo uzupełnia indeks geograficzny oraz streszczenia w językach: angielskim i niemieckim.

This publication describes the holdings of the Archives as at 31 December 2003. The main part of the Guide includes the characteristics of the contents of the Archives holdings. The holdings have been arranged into 14 chapters, further divided into thematic or chronological sub-chapters discussing records dating back to the years before and after 1944. The publication also includes information on archival materials preserved in museums, a list of microfilmed fonds, a list of fond groups equipped with collective book inventories and bibliographies. The geographical index and summaries in English and German supplement the publication
