Qualified in 1989 in Spain after studying at the Jesuit University of Deusto (Bilbao) and University of Barcelona. She has been involved in archival and IT work at different stages in the United Kingdom and abroad. In Spain she worked for the Basque Government's Documentary Heritage Centre (1990-1992) on a project to select and catalogue records from the Royal Chancery Archives for a database made available over the Internet in 1998. Jone moved to the United Kingdom in 1994 where she became Amnesty International’s Archivist at the London headquarters of the Human Rights Organisation (1994-2000). She joined the then Public Record Office at Kew in 2000 as a Senior Archivist to work on the AD2001 Programme. At The National Archives of the United Kingdom her main responsibilities include the Training and Communications Programmes for the online catalogue as well as contributions to a variety of projects linked to the development of online services. In addition, Jone is the Freedom of Information Coordinator responsible for dealing with corporate requests about TNA’s online, educational, marketing and publishing services. She is a professionally-registered member of the Society of Archivists.
