Hans Scheurkogel (1953) is currently Co-ordinator of Archival Education at the Archiefschool, the Netherlands Institute for Archival Education and Research.
He started his career as a medieval historian, being a Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Leiden and a Research Fellow of Pre-industrial History at Erasmus University (Rotterdam).
He entered the management team of the Archiefschool in 1990, becoming responsible for the archival education program, and – since 1995 - for its transformation from a post-academic archival training program into a discipline within regular higher education.
His main interests are the development of the archival profession, the development of archivistics into archival science and the modernisation of archival education.
Hans Scheurkogel has been a member of the European E-TERM-project and has been chosen at the ICA Congress in Vienna (2004) as Chair of the Section for Archival Education and Training of the International Council on Archives
