General Director of State Archives - Sławomir Radoń
Sławomir Radoń appointed to the position of the General Director of State Archives on 26 September 2006, in consequence of winning the competition organised by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Born on 8 January 1957 in Biertowice. He graduated the Jagiellonian University, with a PhD in humanities, specialisation in history and also studied political sciences and completed doctoral studies in the field of religion. In 1988, he was a trainee at Archives Nationales in Paris for a period of three months, in 1990, a holder of the scholarship of Jozef Pilsudski Institute in New York. During the period from 1991 to 2006, the Director of the State Archives in Krakow.
From 1999 he is a member of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance, twice performing the function of its Chairman. During that period, he organised, inter alia, two competitions to the position of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance.
In the years from 1995 to 2005, a member of the Archival Council at the General Director of State Archives. During the term of office 2002-2005, he performed the function of the Vice Chairman of the Council.
Sławomir Radoń is the author of two books and app. 30 other scientific publications from the field of the history of Poland and archival sciences, and the founder and the editor-in-chief of a scientific magazine “Krakowski Rocznik Archiwalny”.
Married, a father of three children.
